Founded in 1932. Curtis Horne Christian School (CHCS) is an accredited private school managed by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Our philosophy is that true education is to restore human beings into the image of God as revealed by the life of Jesus Christ. Only through the guidance of the Holy Spirit can this be accomplished. An education of this kind imparts far more than academic knowledge. It fosters a balanced development of the whole person—spiritual, physical, intellectual, and social-emotional—a process that spans a lifetime.
Working together, homes, schools, and churches cooperate with divine agencies to prepare learners to be good citizens in this world and for eternity.
Vision Statement
To lead students to the knowledge of God through the harmonious development of their academic, physical and spiritual nature. We strive to provide this in a nurturing atmosphere full of academic and spiritual challenges unique for each student. In turn, it is our goal that they will be well prepared for higher education and have developed a sense of joy for service in the community and beyond.
Dear Parents and Students of the Curtis-Horne Christian School,
On behalf of the entire staff, I would like to welcome you back to CHCS for another school year, and in particular, any new students attending our school for the first time. Whether it is through focusing on academics, student leadership, extra-curricular activities or volunteering, I challenge you, the students to make the most of your school experience and to get actively involved in everything the school has to offer.
I also encourage you, the parents to remain involved in your son’s or daughter’s education, as it will greatly increase the likelihood of success. Our doors are always open to you. Call or make appointments with teachers to keep the lines of communication open. I assure you that our teachers will do the same.
With each new school year come some changes, as we endeavor to make CHCS even better. What never changes, though, is the warm, welcoming environment which fosters the educational and social growth of the student body. We endeavor to follow Jesus’ example by nurturing each child’s growth as a whole person: academically, physically, spiritually and socially.
With your support in achieving these expectations, we know that this school year will be a productive and successful year for all.
Sincerely,
Venessa Brenya-Boateng
Principal
We value and honour individual diversity in our students and their families.
Honesty and open communication are the foundation for our professional relationships. We respect, support, and value each member of our school family.
We are responsible for the success of students, support of each other, and support of our community.
We are committed to a positive attitude which enhances self-esteem for students, staff, and families. We utilize a pro-active approach which empowers the school community to achieve mutual goals.
We recognize that our obligations go beyond our professional responsibilities. We view fellow staff members and students as part of our extended family.
Every day at CHCS begins with worship within each classroom. Every Friday we come together as a school and have our weekly assembly. This includes praise and worship, followed by a Christ-centered message. We are thankful that we have two pastors from our constituent churches who also share God’s word with us.
If you ever decide to come to our school, we will give you a warm welcome, and we are sure you will enjoy it.
We are very thankful our boys can receive a Christian education at CHCS. Having the Christian values that we instil at home reinforced at school is very important to our family.
Curtis-Horne is a place where you can feel safe and loved. It’s like a family instead of school.
